First Grade History SOL 1.2 Instructional Resources

• What Makes a Leader? - Students will identify characteristics of leadership by researching the lives of great American leaders.
• Eleanor Everywhere- Lesson Plans for Primary School  - Series of lessons for K-3 grade which introduce the life of Eleanor Roosevelt.
• A Rising People: Ben Franklin and the Americans - Child will be able to create his/her own book about Ben Franklin and Colonial Philadelphia.
• Lesson Plans and Materials · George Washington's Mount Vernon - Included are two activities for celebrating George Washington in the classroom. Students will read an article from the Massachusetts Gazette and complete a primary source worksheet in Reading the News. Celebrating George Washington will direct students in the planning of a classroom or school-wide celebration of George Washington’s birthday.
