First Grade History SOL 1.1 Instructional Resources

  • Past and Present Timeline -Timeline allows students to create a graphical representation of an event or process by displaying items sequentially along a line. Timelines can be organized by time of day, date, or event, and the tool allows users to create a label with short or long descriptive text. Adding an image for each label makes a timeline more visually appealing.
  • English Creative Writing Lesson Plan: Create a Timeline of Events - Let students look into the future by creating a timeline of their life. This lesson develops crucial life skills such as decision-making, setting goals and group cooperation.
  • A Walk in Time– Grade One Lesson Plan - Students will place self-portraits in chronological order from birth to present. Students also will be asked to imagine what they will be doing in the future and use drawings, magazine pictures or computer software to generate illustrations for a time line.
  • Making and Using Timelines - National Park Service - Students use timelines to find information on the Ancestral Pueblo people in sequence and context, and use other information to assemble their own timelines
  • Timelines: A Timeless Teaching Tool - Great information on timelines and their use in the classroom.
